I'm generally late when it comes to things that have to be done in time... and I wanted this picture to be as perfect as possible too.

This is a birthday-giftart for =AlectorFencer, whose birthday was on March 28th. And a thank you for being a really nice and cool friend (still can't believe to be watched by such an amazing artist).

The gryphon is her character, Alector, who just started turning dead land into an alive one.
First I wanted him to look as in the original (as I usually try with all non-my characters), but found out that I suck at drawing highly detailed and real-life-like stuff. And also was too lazy to do it.
So I couldn't resist drawing him in my own style instead, which explains the wild-looking fur, the sharp shapes, and anything else that got something kinda beasty... hope, you don't mind.
I tried to put more perspective in my art starting with this piece to make it look more interesting. Hey, I mean, why not start improving art with a picture which actually is from importance already?

No seriously, after hours and hours of doing the lineart for the head and body and realizing how huge these wings were that I still had to draw I thought:
"........... this is definitely gonna be one of my best pictures ever!!!! D:< "

Hope it is.

What's weird is that I planned to make the feathers not too detailed since it's a whole lot of work. But after making the shadings and stuff on the fur and the front legs, I thought "Hm, not putting many details in the feathers wouldn't make them look interesting." So I did put details in every single darn feather.
I'm an artist that will never learn!

Also, I tried to make the picture look really good because I wanted to keep up with the other giftarts =AlectorFencer got for her birthday. Ain't I just pure evil?
But if you still have something to criticize, go head... no, please, I love pain, ya know!! >.<
Wait, wait! I better torture myself: Study anatomy of wings more! The perspective sucks! It doesn't look like Alector!

Lineart is in scraps, by the way.

Little tip: changing the color of the lineart works wonders. In this case, changing black to gray made the white feathers look more shiny and soft.
