I drew its sketch in 2006, so two years ago. Tried to color it last year. Now I checked back its Photoshop file and was horrified about my coloring style back then. So I simply had to delete the hours of work behind it and start over.
Man, can't remember the last time I put so much effort in one picture... While working for it, I learned a lot of new things. Like stressing the color of the light. And using the gradient tool for the coloring (it looks kinda neat together with the cel-shading and doesn't confuse the watchers about what is the shading and what's the coloring of the characters). And, most importantly, I also learned that the lineart for the chains of the picture "Chained Relationship" were ridiculously easy to do compared to THESE HORNS!! Probably, drawing the lineart of the characters took me longer than painting the background too. Actually, the real sketch didn't contain any stripes concerning the monster but I added them anyway because I'm a sick stripe lover. I have absolutely no idea about the stories and names of these characters. I only know that I designed them one day, and they seem to get along quite well. You know how much kids and monsters have in common. The only difference between them is that monsters show social skills. Hm... I think, I'm gonna call the monster Skeleton because he reminds me of one for some reason. Very uncreative name, I know. But it's still better than the sprite's, which name is Cherry from now on. >:] EDIT: I think that Skulleton is a cooler name for the beasty. So I'll take that one now. The very first drawings about these guys can be found at the butt of my gallery where they belong. And yeah, that sprite really doesn't have a mouth. I thought it would make him more interesting because it opens the question how he manages to communicate with his monster pal at all. I think that I got inspired by fall when I drew the sketch. Love this season. Constructive criticism is welcome... For some reason, I don't like this picture. Maybe it will look better if I simplify the background the next time I plan to draw cartoons, because the characters and background don't seem to harmonize the way I'd have liked it. Oh, well. __ Characters © me __ I uploaded some WIPs of this picture in scraps just for the fun of it. [link] |

He walks in, she rolls over; pretends to sleep as he looks her over. She lies and says she's in love with him - can't find a better man. She dreams in color, she dreams in red; can't find a better man...

Maybe Adahy did grow out of this concept. Man, I'm so uncreative.
