Okay, maybe it's normal for humans to fear an animal's look when they're simply not used to it.
But I know that I'm not like that. I love to see new creatures because they're the interesting change I often look foward to.
Besides, it's what's inside you what makes you a monster, and not what you look like. Personally, I only find people ugly that I truly hate. And they look handsome, actually. A damn bunch of handsome, innocent-looking, and smiling people that love to torture creatures for their own entertainment. Or for money, or for both.
Having evolved from prey, humans are naturally predisposed to hate and fear what they do not understand. Having a visible disability taught me this lesson quite graphically.
Nice quote .

Can you see the fire in their eyes? Can you hear the anguish in their cries? Can you feel the beauty in their arts? Can you sense the love within their hearts?
Flippin awesome. I guess I draw monsters cause I don't care how they look, but because the things that look supernatural or mutilated or bloody or mutated, "ugly", as one would say, intrigues me. And I love it 8> Love people's reactions, too 8D

OMG I am so like you in that perspective. Tis why I love the Creeper from JC movies....is he really evil, or just a predator??? HMM? (And besides that seriously awesome.) I wanna use this stamp on my shoutboard! May I?

Insanity is in some scary way the most freedom you can have, because you're not bound by the laws of society. - Tim Burton (referring to the character of Joker)
While technically the overall monster cannot be judge by looks alone, looks themselves are really important in the design of monster/mutant/fantasy characters.
I recommend a book for all artists, it's called the Japanese Manga Matrix, which teaches on techniques to mix features and get monster designs. I'll Note you when I'm done reviewing it
